Supplies:

  • Stamp Set: Nine Lives (148703)
  • Cardstock: Calypso Coral (122925), Whisper White (100730)
  • Ink and Coloring: Classic Stampin’ Pad in Calypso Coral (147101) and Basic Gray (149165), Stampin’ Blends Calypso Coral Dark (144044)
  • Miscellaneous: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (143263), Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies (148551), Dot to Dot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (148533), Cat Punch (144666), Heart Epoxy Droplets (148583), Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush (141897), Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack (149623 – Sale-A-Bration item free with a qualifying purchase), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (144108), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Paper Snips (103579)

Measurements:

  • Whisper White card base: 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” scored at 4-1/4” then folded in half and 2-1/2” x 4”
  • Calypso Coral: 3-3/4” x 5” and 2-1/2” x 2-1/2”
  • Ribbon: 4”

 Instructions:

  1. Run card base through embossing folder so that lines of dots are vertical along the longer 5-1/2” direction. TIP: if you'd like a little more “definition” in your embossed cardstock, spritz it before running through the Big Shot.
  2. Using the 3-1/2” x 4-3/4” rectangle stitched die as a guide, stamp the yarn in opposing corners of the larger Calypso Coral piece of cardstock then die cut.
  3. Stamp sentiment on Whisper White with Basic Gray ink then die cut with the 2-1/4” x 3-1/2” rectangle aligning so sentiment ends about 3/8” from bottom.
  4. Stamp striped cat in Calypso Coral ink on Calypso Coral cardstock then stamp the outline over it with Basic Gray ink. Punch out with Cat Punch.
  5. Tie ribbon into small bow and trim ends with Paper Snips.
  6. Color over one of the Heart Epoxy Droplets with a Calypso Coral Dark Stampin’ Blends marker.
  7. Using Stampin’ Dimensionals and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, adhere all layers to one another as well as the cat.
  8. Place the colored Heart Epoxy Droplet onto the Whisper White cardstock so it nestles between the cat tail and cat shoulder as shown.

This stamp set will surely give you more than nine lives as you use it over and over to create cards for family and friends! If you'd like to add it to your collection, and also see the coordinating punch, click HERE.

Big Shot Project and Plate “Sandwich” Tips

Big Shot/ Die Cut

Hey Stampers! Do you ever get frustrated when using your Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine? Maybe you've got a great project to make but you're not sure how to make your “sandwich” to get all the plates and platforms to perform correctly? Well, you're in the right place today! I've got a simple die-cut project to share AND a PDF to give you some tips for making your “sandwich” easier!

Big Shot Project and Plate "Sandwich" Tips

This card uses Abstract Impressions Designer Series Paper as the focal point, and a few Basic Pearl Jewels for some “pop”. When using an intricate die like this one, you'll want to use a Precision Cutting Plate and have a Big Shot Die Brush standing by to help you remove any stubborn little pieces that didn't fall out. If you don't yet own the die brush, here's a little “secret” I use time and time again and I KNOW you have one of these in your home.

Big Shot Project and Plate "Sandwich" Tips

Yep, a plain  old dryer sheet. If you'll rub a brand new sheet on the back of your thinlit or framelit die BEFORE running your paper through the Big Shot, the pieces will just fall out beautifully…try it!

Here's the “sandwich” tip sheet. Print it out and keep with your Big Shot for easy reference.

Here's the project sheet for my card today. Some of my customers print out the PDF instructions and put into a binder so they'll have inspiration right at their fingertips!

Why Should I Buy Stampin’ Up!’s Blended Seasons Stamp Set?

Big Shot/ Customer Q & A/ Die Cut/ Tuesday Tips

Hey Stampers! Today I wanted to tackle a question I've been getting from some customers. Why should I buy Stampin' Up!'s Blended Seasons Stamp Set?  This product is only available for one month so why do I need it? This is such a great question and I've got a couple of answers.

First, while this stamp set is only available during August, you will be able to use it for years to come. This stamp set was designed to be versatile, perfect for more than one season and occasion.

Why Should I Buy Stampin' Up!'s Blended Seasons Stamp Set?

You'll notice there are floral, fall foliage, and winter/Christmas images. There are six sentiments, covering any occasion or event.

Another reason you might want to add this to your collection is there is a coordinating set of framelits dies so you can create beautiful layers in a snap.

Why Should I Buy Stampin' Up!'s Blended Seasons Stamp Set?

The best value would be to purchase the stamp set and dies as a set or “bundle” and save 10%! The bundle is available in both clear and wood mount.

Why Should I Buy Stampin' Up!'s Blended Seasons Stamp Set?

Now, last, but not least, here is the best reason you need this stamp set and/or bundle. You can color purple flowers! You DID know my favorite color is purple, right?! 🙂

Why Should I Buy Stampin' Up!'s Blended Seasons Stamp Set?

This sample was colored with the new assortment of Watercolor Pencils, which are only available while supplies last. I can see so many different sentiments for this card. As a matter of fact, I think I'll make several sets of these, with sentiment pieces, put together in one of our acetate card boxes. What a great gift!

Happy Friday from the Magical Day Unicorn!

Big Shot/ Die Cut/ Holidays / Special Days

Happy Friday! My youngest grandcherub is obsessed with these magical creatures. I'm sure she is just waiting for the day one appears on her doorstep to take her on an adventure! Sometimes I think we adults need to get back some of the “magic” from our childhoods. Like, laying in the front yard, looking up at the clouds and finding all sorts of creatures romping around in the sky…maybe even unicorns!

Have you seen the whimsical images in the Magical Day Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!?

Happy Friday from the Magical Day Unicorn!

Aren't these fun?? My share today uses the unicorn and I can't wait to stamp some of these with my little grand!

The Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper adds a bit of “pop” and I think  sets off the unicorn perfectly! The  Whisper White square, cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies adds another little bit of detail on this whimsical card.

In addition to the stamp set and glimmer paper, this suite of products also has Washi Tape, Designer Series Paper, and Framelits (the framelits can be purchased as part of a bundle, in wood or clear mount, for a 10% savings!).

If you have any unicorn lovers in your home, here are the instructions so you can make some magical cards, too!

From Ordinary to Extraordinary

Big Shot/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques

Hey stampers! We are back from Spain, jet lag is gone, and the rush of holiday happenings has begun! Not sure how I will accomplish everything on my LONG to do list. But, that's OK; one step at a time! Today I wanted to give you a few tips that will take your holiday cards “From Ordinary to Extraordinary”.

First, using your favorite embossing folder on the envelope will have even your postal carrier talking about your creativity!

From Ordinary to Extraordinary

Absolutely any folder will do and this technique will make sure yours is one of the first cards opened!

Another fun way to jazz up an envelope is to stamp on the outside. Coordinating the card with its envelope adds a bit of charm for sure.

From Ordinary to Extraordinary

One tidbit I've learned from my postal employee friends; make sure you don't stamp anything all along the bottom edge of the front of the envelope. This could interfere with the USPS bar coding system and get your card returned. You don't want THAT to happen for sure!

Use an embossing folder that coordinates with your card theme. In this card, the folder used gives some “snow texture” to the little guy.

From Ordinary to Extraordinary

Another fun idea is to use a bit of washi tape to add some color and pop to your card. Washi tape is so easy to use and it is quite economical, too!

From Ordinary to Extraordinary

I hope these little tips will help you take your cards from ordinary to extraordinary this year! If you have some tried and true tips you'd like to share, post them as a comment here. I'm sure we all can benefit!
