Stress Free Holidays Part 2

Holidays / Special Days

Welcome to Part 2 of Stress Free Holidays! If you missed the first part on Monday, click here.

Stress Free Holidays Part 2

None of us want to look like this sweet lady! I know I can easily get caught up in the holiday “hustle and bustle” so these tips are a great reminder for me, too!

Part 2 tips, 6-10:

Tip #6: Remember what the holidays are really about – spending time with family and friends! Perhaps you might start a new tradition of volunteering at a local food bank or soup kitchen with  family members. Most of us are blessed with so much and when we can do things to serve and cheer others, we are the ones who really benefit!

Tip #7: This tip is actually a way to “de-stress” someone else's holiday. Most of us know a young mom who might enjoy shopping (or maybe even a warm bath with a good book!) without the kids. Why not give her a call and offer complimentary kid sitting services?

Tip #8: Take care of YOU! Most of us wear ourselves out bustling around, giving to others. We forget that if we aren't feeling well physically and mentally that can truly affect those around us in a less than positive way. Make it a priority to give yourself some “down time”!

Tip #9: Ask for help! You don't have to be Martha Stewart OR Martha of Mary and Martha in the Bible. Delegate! You don't have to cook everything and make your home spotless all on your own!

Tip #10: GRATITUDE! Especially at this time of the year, we should spend more time counting our blessings, remembering what we have instead of worrying about what we don't. Instead of “Keeping up with the Jones's,” take a minute to appreciate the simple joys of love, family, friends, good health, etc.

I hope my tips gave you some good suggestions and, perhaps brought a smile or two as you read through the list! If there is anything I can do to help you have a stress free holiday, please give me a shout!

Stress Free Holidays

Holidays / Special Days

Hey Stampers! If you're like I am, you are always looking for ways to take some of the “stress” out of the holidays and return some ho-ho-ho, instead of OH NO! Today I'll share 5 tips and then follow up with 5 more on Wednesday!Stress Free Holidays

Tip #1: Shop Online! Shopping malls can be absolutely craazzy this time of year! To avoid this, try to shop online. You'll save energy and frustration and you'll be able to get everything wrapped in plenty of time! If for some reason your “perfect gift” is out of stock, at least you'll know it's coming and you can think of a clever way to wrap up a picture or representation of the gift to give the recipient.

Tip #2:  Ship items directly to your gift recipients. If you have friends on the other side of the U.S.  or perhaps in another country, or even if you’re planning on buying gifts online for someone near you, try shipping the item directly to your recipient's address! Many websites even let you to ship items with gift wrapping and an individualized message!

Tip #3:  Plan in advance how you'll be getting home from your holiday celebrations! To make sure you and your friends stay safe,  plan out ahead of time how you will all get home that night, whether it be by designated driver, taxi, or ride-sharing services like Lyft or Uber. If you know that you and your friends will be getting home safely, you can celebrate stress-free!

Tip #4: Plan in some “down time” and enjoy a cup of herbal tea! AND maybe a sweet treat or two(sugar fuels the body you know!) to keep your computer typing strength in good order! 🙂

Tip#5:  If you are traveling to visit friends and/or family, arrange to travel at non-peak times if possible. Take the red eye flight when lines will be shorter and getting through security will be easier. If you’re driving, don’t hit the highway right at rush hour if you can avoid it. Also, some major highways choose the middle of the night to work on construction projects, so use traffic apps to anticipate any bumper to bumper construction traffic and take alternative routes to get you to your destination without avoidable delays.

Pop back in on Wednesday when I'll share 5 more tips!

Holidays / Special Days

#nationalpumpkinday

Happy Friday Stampers! Did you know that today is National Pumpkin Day? OK, by now most of us have already been in a “Pumpkin Spice Latte” frenzy! If you're like I am, you almost can set your clock by the day Starbuck's starts serving their fall delight! To be totally honest, I didn't even know there WAS a National Pumpkin Day! 🙂

Here are some fun “pumpkin” facts to celebrate the day:

  • The word pumpkin originates from the word pepon, which means “large melon” in Greek.
  • This squash is native to  North America. The oldest evidence of pumpkin-related seeds dates back to somewhere between 7000 and 5500 BC to seeds found in Mexico.
  • A 2,145-pound pumping from Streator, Illinois holds the current North American record.  Grown by Gene McMullen in 2015, the great pumpkin weighed in a few hundred pounds lighter than the current world record pumpkin from 2014.  At 2,323-pounds, the giant pumpkin from Switzerland retains the world record prize.
  • Canned pumpkin may be recommended by veterinarians as a dietary supplement for dogs and cats that are experiencing certain digestive ailments.
  • Raw pumpkin can be fed to poultry as a supplement to their regular feed during the winter months to help maintain egg production.

Now, of course, National Pumpkin Day would not be complete without…you guessed it…a pumpkin project! Enjoy!

A Few Stampin’ Up! Reminders and NEW Samples!

Classes / Events/ Holidays / Special Days

Hey Stampers! I'm in New Orleans, gathering with a few other Stampin' Up! leaders at a “Mastermind” with our business coach. This is third event of this type that Dave and I have attended and we always come away with great ideas and positive input to start our new Stampin' Up! year. As our month comes to a close, there are a few things that I wanted to make sure you remember:

  • If you earned any “Bonus Days” coupons in August, you only have until September 30 to redeem them. You should have received an email from Stampin' Up! with a code (it is lengthy AND be sure to use any dashes in the code when ordering). If you know you earned a code but can't find it, please reach out to me so we can get it taken care of before September ends!
  • The “Dashing Along” promotion also ends on September 30th. Our hostess reward program is awesome but the free Designer Series Paper makes it EVEN BETTER!
  • If you live in the Dallas, TX area or will be here visiting on October 13th, I'd like to invite you to my Holiday Catalog Open House! This is a free event where you get to come and make projects using new catalog projects, see lots of samples and hang out with crafty friends! It will be held at the Sachse Public Library in Sachse, TX. Give me a shout and I'll be happy to get you all the details! Below are just a couple of samples featuring products we'll be using!

A Few Stampin' Up! Reminders and NEW Samples!
