Block Backgrounds!

I'm participating in a couple of swaps this month and decided to get them done early for a change. Perfect timing since as a SU Demo I could pre-order some of the products in our Spring and Sale-A-Bration catalogs.

TIP:I could not find a background stamp to create the look I wanted, so I made my own! I took a clear block, inked up with Crumb Cake Ink and then swiped across the card several times. I started on my scratch paper so some of the ink would come off of the block before I swiped onto the card. This technique gave me the texture and dimension I wanted, instead of just the plain card stock. I ran the Cajun Craze "flag" on the front of the card through the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder to add even more dimension.

I made another card, cutting the "flag" piece is out of the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper  in the Spring Catalog. I might give this card to a friend for Valentine's Day but it really can be used anytime. That's the beauty of Stampin' Up!'s paper…versatility! I finished that handmade card with some fun products from the Sale-A-Bration offerings. This promotion starts on January 22, but as a Demo we can order our stuff a month early. I'm working on lots of samples that I'll show you over the next couple of weeks!

Valentine's Day is a great holiday for cardmaking and other fun projects. We've got some fun bundles available to make it a snap! I'd love to get together with you and some friends to help you make some fun treats for your special peeps. Give me a shout and we'll set a date!
