Did you know that you can do more with your Stampin' Up! Ink Refills than just re-inking on your ink pads? It's true…ink refills, sometimes referred to as “re-inkers” are NOT just for bringing those dry ink pads to life!
I always recommend to my customers that whenever they are purchasing a new ink pad to get the ink refill at the same time. Why do I do this? 2 reasons:
1. SU ink pads to last a long time without re-inking…BUT, when they need a little shot to get them stamping like new, you don't want to have to wait, especially if you are in the midst of stamping your daughter's Sweet 16 birthday party invitations!
2. There are fun techniques that you can only do if you have an ink refill. Here is one of those; I call it “floating colors”:
Stamp an image (Blended Bloom – 135906 or one of the images from Bloom With Hope – wood (133949), clear (133952) work well) onto Shimmery White Cardstock using Versamark Ink; emboss this image with white embossing powder. Let this image cool and then spray a few squirts of water using a spray bottle onto the image. Place a few drops from your re-inker into a small lid or container. Use an Aqua Painter (be sure you've squeezed some water onto the tip) to pick up some of the ink and lightly touch the tip onto a spot on your stamped, embossed image.
The ink will spread like magic! Add more ink where you would like darker petals. Let image dry completely and then cut it out, use Stampin' Dimensionals to “pop up” on your card, and finish as desired.
