Not Too Early!

Announcements/ Holidays / Special Days/ Join My Team/ Paper crafting

Doesn't it seem strange to be talking about Christmas when September just BARELY got here? It does to me, but I know that by the time I can blink twice, it's gonna be here!

Hi All!

Dave, (a.k.a. The Stamp Slave), here. I figured I'd jump in and help out so that, when the next Stampin' Up! incentive trip comes up, I can point back to this post and say, “Yes! Really! I helped!” That's worth a trip to Maui, isn't it?? LOL… (By the way, sure would be ‘funner' if some of y'all came along with us on some of these fabulous trips! Ask Anne how…)

The new Stampin' Up! 2019 Holiday Catalog will be out on Thursday and it's spectacular, as usual! I'll be spending some time tomorrow getting the picture together and setting up the link so that you'll be able to click and go right to the download page! Be sure to come back on Thursday morning to see what a marvelous job I've done! 😉 Then, click the link, (it will be in the sidebar on the right), and download the catalog so you can see what I mean.

I've attached a picture above of a project done with the, “Wrapped In Plaid Suite”. The Wrapped In Plaid Suite is available in the new catalog. If you want the whole thing, you'll get the stamp set, punch, DSP, ribbon, some brightly-colored “Jingle Bells”, and some gold mini pizza boxes. If you want a bit less than that, there's the Bundle, which includes the stamp set and punch. Or… if you just want a couple of things, they are all individually available. Just let us know how we can help.

And please remember, when it comes time to pack for Maui, please back me up. Just say, “He DID help!”

FAQ About Being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator

Join My Team

FAQ About Being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

Given how many people ask me the same questions around the beginning of a new year, I thought it would be helpful for me to post FAQ about being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Over the years I've found that often people are just looking for information and I'm always happy to share about something I love!

For me, recruiting and having a “downline” (more below) is all about leading a team of people who become Stampin' Up! Demonstrators because they love the product, love stamping and want more of it! Whether or not someone wants to become a Demonstrator to earn all the benefits offered by Stampin' Up!, they simply want a discount on their own “stuff”, or they crave community with other kindred crafters, there is a way for everyone to be a part!

OK, here we go.

One of the first questions I usually get is “How much does it cost?” A starter kit with $125.00 of product you choose, catalogs, order forms and other business supplies is $99 plus tax and FREE shipping. During Sale-A-Bration (Jan-March) you will get extra freebies, too! If you decide to continue beyond your first full quarter you need to purchase $300 a quarter, either through your own purchases, through customer orders, events you hold, etc.

Usually the next question I'm asked is “Can I REALLY make money doing this?” The answer is absolutely YES! The amount you will make depends on how much time you are willing to devote to your business. You can have a full business like I do or you can do just enough to support your own purchases. You earn commissions on your sales and that percentage increases as your sales grow. You earn volume rebates (paid by Stampin' Up! directly) on your downline's performance. You can offer classes, sell finished product, maybe even sell at craft fairs!

You can also earn “Flex Points” to spend on crafting products from the catalog, SU logo items, even fabulous trips to exotic destinations like Fiji and Thailand! My husband and I have been blessed to have earned about 8 of these trips and in 2019 we'll be headed on a cruise to the  Greek Isles, all expenses paid!

“Do I have to recruit?” Honestly the answer is no, but why wouldn't you want to share this awesome opportunity with others. Anyone who you sign up is considered your “downline”. They will look to you for guidance and support, but it is totally up to you what you provide. Mentoring my team and signing up new recruits is one of  my favorite parts, but each of us is able to run our business how we see fit.

“If I decide to hold events, what will I do ?” First, as your wonderful and awesome upline, I will help you! Stampin' Up! also provides lots of training and once you become a demonstrator you'll be part of Girls, INK, my amazing team. We have business builders and hobbyists and everyone shares and is  ready to lend a helping hand…so don't worry! We've got you covered!

Now, believe it or not, once we've gotten through these questions, the next one is usually “When and where can I sign up?” It is so easy and you can do it online, right here. I would LOVE to welcome you to my Girls, INK team if this looks like a right fit for you!

Have a few more questions that I haven't covered? Please do ASK! Email me: anne@stampmaven.com and let's have a conversation. I love to share what I do but there's no pressure. If this is right for you, great! If not, that's great, too. This is 100% your decision. I'm just here to give you the information you need.

And….We’re Off! Alaska Bound!

Facebook LIVE/ Join My Team

It's 4:45 AM and we're heading out to DFW. Our flight to Seattle leaves a bit before 7:00 and, with the time change, we'll land about 9:00. My brother and his wife will be our “Lyft” drivers (that was his attempt at humor!) and fetch us at the airport. Then it's off for a day of fun in Seattle. I've never been to the Space Needle so hopefully we will get to go there. We plan to visit Pike Place Market again and we'll definitely be shipping home some salmon!

And....We're Off! Alaska Bound!

If you're not familiar with this Seattle treasure, read more about it HERE.

Pike Place Market is such a blast. Our favorite thing from our last visit was watching the guys at the fish market inside throw them around.

I'll check in as we board our ship and hopefully will be able to do a Facebook Live to show you around!

We are so blessed to be able to go on these trips! Who would have thought a little rubber stamp, 16 years ago, would have been the start of all my treasured friendships and exotic adventures! Why not check out a little bit more for yourself? There's some extra perks this month that make it even more enticing

Does Your Job Take You to Places Like This?

Announcements/ Join My Team

Does Your Job Take You to Places Like This?

Does Your Job Take You to Places Like This? Mine does! Over the weekend I achieved the points necessary to earn this all expenses paid trip from Stampin' Up! .

And you know the best part? You can have the same job that I do and earn trips, too!

Really you ask?? YES! I never dreamed that my Stampin' Up! “hobby” would turn into a “business” and take my husband and me all over the world.

I joined Stampin' Up! 16 years ago to get a discount on all of my products. In fact, many of my team members have done the very same thing and they love their 20-25% discount. They have no desire to do anything else.  They still are invited to all my events and most of them love to come!

I also have team members who have chosen to actually recruit other Stampin' Up! lovers in addition to purchasing their own products at a discount. This allows them to earn more, even trips like in the picture above! I made the switch from a hobby to a business about 10 years ago, and that's when we earned our first incentive trip to Bermuda. We've been blessed to earn other trips. We're leaving for the 2018 Alaskan Cruise incentive trip in July. Let me tell you…I have a VERY supportive husband who LOVES all my stamps, inks and paper! 🙂

Maybe you would love to take your husband to some fun places. Maybe you'd just love to craft with new friends, or just might want to make some extra income for you and/or your family, I invite you to check out a little bit more about this awesome company (NO obligation, just some more info)! I'd also love to chat with you on the phone and answer any questions you might have (214-293-4461). If you are local to me, we can also grab a beverage at a local coffee place (email me). I hope you might some needs/wants in your life that Stampin' Up! could fulfill. I'd be so happy to help you as a part of my Girls INK team!

Why Do We Send Greeting Cards?

Classes / Events/ Join My Team/ Paper crafting

Hey Stampers! It is FRIIIDAAY for me! I'm heading off to a stamping retreat with some of my downline and customers. My friend Irene organizes this retreat a few times a year. I so look forward to it; I get lots of things on my crafting “to do” list accomplished at these weekends. I have lots of new products to play with and will be creating my May events projects. I have lots of fun things coming up so, if you don't receive my email newsletter, you'll definitely want to sign up (just put your name and email above)! You'll get a free gift immediately and also I'll send you a video series that you'll enjoy.

Have you ever thought about why we send out greeting cards to our family and friends; how did this tradition start in the first place? I did some research that I wanted to share with you today.

The History of Greeting Cards
(from the Postcard and Greeting Card Museum – www.emotionscards.com)

Sending greeting cards to friends and family is a tradition that goes back about 200 years. They were mostly sent by the elite and wealthy in the early to mid 1800's. Most of the early greeting cards were hand delivered and many were quite expensive, but they soon gained mass popularity with the introduction of the world's first postage stamp issued in 1840 and a few ambitious printer's and manufacturer's perfecting printing methods, hiring artists and designed both elaborate expensive cards as well as simple affordable ones by the 1850's.

As you visit our galleries you will see that cards of the past were fine pieces of art. Manufacturer's used quality artists and many of the large manufacturer's held “art” competitions to generate interest and to get new ideas for cards. Some of these competitions awarded as much as $1,000.00 to the winner!

The oldest known greeting card in existence is a Valentine made in the 1400's and is in the British Museum. New Year's cards can be dated back to this period as well, but the New Year greeting didn't gain popularity until the late 1700's. The Valentine and Christmas Card were the most popular cards, with Valentine's offering us the most “mechanical”, “pop-up” and filigree cards, followed by Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Halloween and Thanksgiving. Cards gained their highest popularity in the late 1800's and early 1900's offering us cards with some of the most unusual art. The Victorian age give us the most prolific cards.

Valentine greetings were popular as far back as the Middle Ages, when lovers said or sang their Valentines. Written Valentines began to appear after 1400. Paper Valentines were exchanged in Europe where they were given in place of Valentine gifts. Handmade paper Valentines were especially popular in England. In the mid to early 1800's, Valentines began to be assembled in factories. Early manufactured Valentines were black and white pictures painted by workers in a factory. Esther Howland (see below) known as the Mother of the Valentine made fancy Valentines with real lace, ribbons and colorful pictures known as “scrap”. She introduced the Paper Lace Valentine in the mid 1800's. By the end of the 1800's, Valentines were being made entirely by machine.

Christmas cards were introduced and popularized by John Calcott Horsley, the artist of what is known as the world's first Christmas Card and Louis Prang, known as the Father of the American Christmas Card.

The rest is History. With the exchange of New Year's, Valentine's, Easter, St. Patrick's Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Birthday Cards, just to name a few, there is probably no occasion that doesn't have its own greeting card!

Kind of interesting, ‘eh?

There are lots of amazing new products coming in the 2018-2019 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog; they'll make creating your own handmade greeting cards fun and easy! The samples below are made with exclusive bundles that customers can pre-order in May:

Customer Pre-order Bundles

Why Do We Send Greeting Cards?

Oh, one more thing. If you have any interest in saving money, you can get one of the bundles as part of a Stampin' Up! Starter Kit.  You can choose any products up to $125 and pay only $99 plus NO SHIPPING! Whether you are looking for a  business or just want to save money on your favorite products, this might be a great option for you!

HAVE a great weekend and be sure to check out retreat happenings with me on Facebook. I'll be posting LIVE throughout the weekend!

Be Part of the 30 Year Celebration!

Announcements/ Classes / Events/ Join My Team

Hey Stampers; happy Friday eve! This weekend, I've got a fun stamp club coming up and get to go to a Baby Expo; no, nothing new to report here! 🙂 Any trips or fun celebrations in your plans? Speaking of celebrations, I would love to have you on my Stampin' Up! team and Be Part of the 30 Year Celebration! That's right, it has been 30 years since Shelli Gardner and her sister Vonna founded Stampin' Up! I  joined in 2002 and have been on the best journey ever since. Both the company and I have “come a long way baby”. Look at the difference in catalog covers from then and now:

Be Part of the 30 Year Celebration!

One of the reasons I joined was to be able to get my hands on all the new goodies before anyone else. Demonstrators get to “pre-order” select items a whole month before the catalog is released to everyone else. Did you know you can actually choose BRAND NEW STUFF when you purchase your starter kit?!! Yep, for $99 plus tax (Stampin' Up! pays the shipping), you get to pick $125 of products. AND you get all your business supplies like catalogs and order forms, too!

“Anne, I don't really want to be a Demonstrator right now. I'd rather just order from you, come to your classes and enjoy your AH-MAAA-ZING customer service! But, I would like the catalog”.

My stamp club members will get a free new catalog in May at our meetings and I would be so happy to get one into your hands, too! Just email me and I'll let you know how to get one. If you already have an active demonstrator, please ask them for a  catalog. I do not want to take business away from someone else.

Please note that I am only able to mail catalogs within the United States per company policy. Catalogs will be mailed around the middle of May and you can begin placing orders June 1.

Hey Stampers! It's Friday Eve…aka Thursday night. One of my favorite nights of the month when it is Card Swap night! Tonight our theme was gift cards and it truly was a Gift Card Swap…on Steroids! What made it extra fun tonight was one of our out of town swappers, Chris joined us on Facetime for the entire time. Chris is one of my Girls, INK team members and she is truly an artist. She now lives in Albuquerque but tries to join us for our monthly swap. She mails her stuff and we all eagerly await the arrival of her envelope into our midst. Here are tonight's creations:

Gift Card Swap...on Steroids!

These are all exquisite, don't you think?! Since I bragged on Chris, hers in in the upper far right corner of the grouping. Check out the detail on the little gift package.

The thing I most love about our swaps is everyone comes up with a different idea and they are all fabulous! I hope my share today gives you some fun ideas! Many of these are done using Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper. We have lots of different packages from which to chose!

Love It Live It Share It by Stampin’ Up!

Love It Live It Share It by Stampin' Up!  This is on the front of our current seasonal catalog and it is what we do! My recruit had her second workshop and I went up to help and be moral support for her. She really didn't need any moral support; she's flying great on her own! But, it's always fun to meet new crafters, right?! Here are a few pictures of the evening:

We had younger ladies, a few seniors and even one in a wheelchair; each one left with two handstamped projects and boy were they proud!

Stampin' Up! has wonderful products to share but sitting around a kitchen table with kindred crafters is what it is all about!

If you might be interested in gathering a few of your friends together either locally or online, or might be interested in what being a Stampin” Up! Demonstrator might offer you, let's chat! You can call me (214-293-4461) or email me for a chat.
