Marker Fun

20090723_F2F

The tree was done using the marker technique.  Since our markers are water based, you can color directly on the stamp and create a wonderful look. First, I colored the entire stamp with Sage Shadow. Then I came back in with Old Olive and just colored the tips of some of the leaves. Lastly, I colored the trunk and branches with chocolate chip. I did not worry if some of this color got onto the leaves… it made it look more natural, like real leaves turning color in fall and winter. Now the most important step, don’t forget to breathe on your stamp to re-moisten the ink and then stamp on your paper. You can then stamp again on another sheet to create a different effect; it will be lighter, but still look great on a card. For a softer look, you can also use Close to Cocoa for the trunk and branches and then only stamp once.
