Stand Up Card Using Whole Lot of Lovely DSP

Facebook LIVE/ Online Classes/ stand up star card/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques

Good Sunday evening Stampers! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I sure did.  Had a wonderful card class on Saturday and the hostess received over $168 in free Stampin' Up! products; she was quite happy! One of our projects was a really cool star card that stands up. I just recreated this on a Facebook LIVE session where I made a Stand Up Star Card Using Whole Lot of Lovely DSP.

Stand Up Star Card Using Whole Lot of Lovely DSP

At my class the ladies thought this was going to be so difficult to make; but, it is actually so easy!

I used Peekabo Peach for the base. This is one of the 2018-2018 retiring In Colors. If you just love any of the colors in that collection, I encourage you to go ahead and stock up on cardstock and ink refills; I'll guarantee you they will disappear once the retiring product list appears in April. The envelope paper I used is actually a sheet from an old retired package but I just wanted to show you that the card easily fits inside.

Click here to see my Facebook video and I have the measurements below.

MEASUREMENTS:

One piece of any color of solid cardstock cut to 5″ x 6″ and scored down the middle (at 3″); this will form the card base that will stand up. You will cut off each side to create 2 triangles (I explain this in the video).

One piece of Designer Series Paper cut to 4 3/4″ x 5 3/4″ and then cut in half. 2 of these will be adhered to the base and the other two pieces will be adhered to the smaller triangle pieces.

Cardmaking Made Simple with Designer Series Paper

Announcements/ Classes / Events/ Online Classes

Hi stampers! FINALLY the sun has come out in north Texas. We've had so many days of cold, rainy weather; I was beginning to think I had clicked my ruby slippers and ended up in Seattle…HA! But, you know what rainy weather means, right? I get to stay inside and stamp! This weekend I was creating cards for my next online class, Cardmaking Made Simple with Designer Series Paper. Mark your calendar for March 21 at 7:00 PM CST.

Cardmaking Made Simple with Designer Series Paper

This Facebook LIVE Online class will show you an easy new twist on the familiar One Sheet Wonder. I take one 12 ” x 12″ sheet of Designer Series paper and show you how to create 8-12 cards. You don't even have to leave the comfort of your home to take this class!

You can join in LIVE, or watch the recording anytime at your convenience. I step through each card and give you lots of helpful tips and tricks.

The Pre-Launch price will be $24.95 and registration at that price begins on Friday, March 2, and will end on Wednesday, March 21 at 7:00 PM CST.  (Once the class has launched the price will be $35.00).

I'll post all the details here on Friday, on Facebook, and in my newsletter (join and get your free tutorial and video series).

The beauty of this class is that it will work with any sheet of Designer Series Paper. I know you have some of that just lying around, so why get it off the shelf and put it to use! 🙂

12 Weeks Of Halloween Week 5 – Happy Owloween

Holidays / Special Days/ Online Classes/ Online Stamp Clubs/ Samples/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques

Hey stampers! It's hard for me to totally get into the Halloween spirit when it's 90 degrees outside, but I'm giving it a good try! My project for you today is 12 Weeks of Halloween Week 5 – Happy Owloween. I'm going to have to find a way to keep using this adorable little owl after Halloween because he is just too cute to file away!

12 Weeks Of Halloween Week 5 - Happy Owloween

You'll find full instructions at the end of the post, but I wanted to point out a few things. The focal point of this little treat bag is made from our Spooky Night Designer Series Paper (DSP).  There are so many fun patterns and the orange and black cats can be punched out using the Cat Punch; easy peasy!

12 Weeks Of Halloween Week 5 - Happy Owloween

I just took one of the 12 x 12 sheets, chopped it up into 3 x 3 pieces and then simply stamped the owl on top. I used Basic Gray ink (which made the owl lighter than the black tree branch) so I didn't even have to mask the tree. The owl blended right in. If you aren't sure how to mask, click here to see an earlier post where I explain the technique. While there is a image in this stamp set for the beak and feet, I found it easier to use a Pumpkin Pie marker right on the image and color.

I cut little slivers of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock to create the curls inside the top of the bag. The Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer works great for this and then I used the end of a pencil to curl the paper. Another tip; you can make this project as is, or use the design for cards.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set Spooky Cat (P-144749)
  • Stamp Pads – Archival Gray (140932) Black (140931) Stamp Pad
  • Cardstock – Pumpkin Pie (105117)
  • Misc. – Spooky Night Designer Series Paper (DSP) (144610), SNAIL Adhesive (104331), Stampin Dimensionals, Big Shot (143263), Mini Treat Bag Thinlits (137547), Magnetic Platform (130658), Black Rhinestone Jewels (144639), 5/8” Burlap Ribbon, Linen Thread (104199), Wood Textures DSP Stack (144171), Pumpkin Pie Marker (131259-Brights set), Black Marker (131261 – Neutral Set), Tear & Tape Adhesive (138995), Stampin’ Trimmer (126889)

Measurements:

  • Spooky DSP: 3” x 3” of orange piece with black tree
  • Wood Textures DSP: two of the same piece
  • Burlap Ribbon: 10”
  • Linen Thread: 8”

Instructions:

  1. Cut Spooky DSP piece/s at 3” between every tree piece (you will end up with 16 pieces per DSP sheet)
  2. Stamp owl using Gray ink so feet are resting on tree branch.
  3. Stamp“happy owloween” onto owl using black ink.
  4. Using Pumpkin Pie marker, color in beak and feet. Using black marker, color in white around eyes. Attach small black rhinestone into center of each eye. Set aside.
  5. Cut out Treat bag using Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and put together using Tear & Tape Adhesive.
  6. Put one Stampin Dimensional on each corner on the back of stamped DSP square and adhere to bag front.
  7. Thread piece of Burlap Ribbon around bag, through owl piece and tie linen thread into a bow around ends of burlap. Trim off as desired.
  8. Attach three black rhinestones to bottom of bag.
  9. Cut 8-10 1/8” strips of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock. Roll around end of a pencil to create a curled piece.
  10. Put SNAIL on one end of curled pieces and attach to inside of bag. You might need to re-curl strips once strips are positioned.

I hope you'll give this 12 Weeks Of Halloween Week 5 – Happy Owloween project a try! If you've missed my other Halloween projects,  you can start here for Week 1 and then scroll through. I have lots of great projects, tips and techniques in older posts!

Double Embossing Technique Using Dragonfly Dreams Thinlits

Big Shot/ Classes / Events/ Online Classes/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques/ Tuesday Tips

Hey stampers! Today I want to share a card featuring the Double Embossing Technique Using Dragonfly Dreams Thinlits. Say that five times fast!

I really should call this Triple Embossing because of the “HAPPY” dry embossing on the top of the card. I did this using the Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Double Embossing Technique Using Dragonfly Dreams Thinlits

These two little gems add some quick texture and definition to your projects.

My multi-colored dragonfly is where I used double embossing. Let me tell you the steps.

First, I cut a piece of Shimmery White cardstock to 3″ x 4″. I then traced around the solid dragonfly image. Next, I used Sponge Daubers to apply 5 colors of ink around the image. Last I cut out the traced image using the detailed thinlit.

Double Embossing Technique Using Dragonfly Dreams Thinlits

Finally, take a Versamark Pad and rub over the die-cut image, coat with Dazzling Diamonds Embossing Powder and heat. Do this a second time. You will have a beautiful double-embossed image!

Visit my You Tube Channel to see a step by step video for this fun technique.

These thinlits have a coordinating stamp set that gives you even more options for your papercrafting.

I also have a Video Class Tutorial available, complete with a color PDF. You'll learn how to make these three projects and a variety of new techniques.

CLICK HERE to visit the class page now.

Thanks for popping by today; I hope you learned something new!

One of the best thing about these products is they look fabulous with any ink and paper combination. You can use more “traditional” Christmas colors of red and green, or choose something totally different, like the blues above. Maybe you like to send different styles of cards so you can make some of each! The bold greetings in the stamp set let you create eye-catching focal points in your handmade cards.

I know you will want some WOW cards to send out to all your friends and family this year! I am hard at work on a brand new online video class tutorial for this fabulous new bundle.  If you'd like to be among the first to see the details be sure you have subscribed to my email newsletter!  Sign up here and you'll also get this free project tutorial.

In addition to this awesome tutorial and early-bird class release notice for my Carols of Christmas Online Class, you'll also get more great projects, tips, techniques and other valuable information to help you with everything crafty!

As a Stampin' Up! business owner, I was able to purchase this bundle in July and start working on amazing samples for you! Did you know that you can still get this stamp set for free in July, along with $72 of extra free products when you join the Stampin' Up! family? I invite you to check out my team page to see if the fun, friendships, early product release purchase opportunities, extra income, and more just might fill some of your needs!
