Is Your Glass Half Empty or Half Full?

Announcements/ Classes / Events/ Product Information

Hey Stampers! Busy weekend for us, getting ready for our vacation to Spain. We were blessed to earn the Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip to the Mediterranean last year and we spent a few extra days in Barcelona. We decided right there and then, we would be going back this year. Spain is home to many fabulous vineyards so today's card “Is Your Glass Half Empty or Half Full?” seems totally appropriate, don't you agree?

Is Your Glass Half Empty or Half Full?

I am definitely a “purple queen” so Rich Razzleberry fit the bill for this card! Notice the shading on the wine bottles and inside the glasses. Our new Stampin' Blends markers make this so very easy. My preferred coloring style is to lay down the lighter color first, and then highlight with the darker shade. Each marker has both a light and dark shade. You can also mix and match colors for another effect.

Here's a short video that explains some of the features and benefits.

The next video shows you some of the basics of blending with the new markers.

I also have short Facebook LIVE video about a special gift I have for everyone who orders the full set of available Blends from me! I've already given several out and the ladies LOVE it! You can also order the new Stampin' Blends as part of a starter kit and get all of them for only $99 plus tax and shipping is FREE! Check out my Girls, INK team. Any questions about this, please give me a shout.

In case you have some “winey” friends (haha), here are the instructions so you can send out to your buddies! All supplies may be ordered anytime at my online store.

  4. With the Stampin’ Blends, color one wine bottle in Old Olive with a Cherry Cobbler top and the other wine bottle with Rich Razzleberry and Bronze top. Color the wine glasses with Rich Razzleberry and Ivory. Stamp the grapes with Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive.

Fall Inspiration With Colorful Seasons

Die Cut/ Holidays / Special Days/ Product Information/ Samples

Hello stampers! What a great weekend I had! The weather here in Texas was nice and I got to spend yesterday afternoon working on a Homecoming Mum. Now, I'm from California and we did not have anything remotely like this. A “mum” was a real flower mum and went into a small corsage on your wrist or dress.  I can't post a picture yet because we are keeping it a surprise from my grandson's girlfriend. Let me just say it is BIG! When I asked another mom who has made plenty of these if it is too big she said oh no; go BIG or go home! So, there you go, a learning opportunity! But, I digress, let's get back to the main reason for my post today. I want to share some fall inspiration with Colorful Seasons.

https://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ItemList.aspx?categoryid=100070

This stamp set is another one of my personal favorites in the Holiday Seasonal Catalog; the images and greetings are charming and offer cardmaking versatility for every occasion year round.

Notice on the card just above, some of the little pieces were poked out with a paper piercing tool and some of the pieces remained in the leaf. This gives a fun, unique look.

Magical Mermaid Stampin’ Up! Style

Paper crafting/ Product Information/ Stamping

Magical Mermaid Stampin' Up! Style

Hey stampers! In keeping with yesterday's “weather related” post, today's project features a Magical Mermaid!

Magical Mermaid Stampin' Up! Style

When my middle granddaughter was very young I used to tell her we had mermaids visit our swimming pool after we had all gone to bed. She was always asking if we could go down and see them. Now she's older and wiser and just rolls her eyes when I mention it!

If you love to color, this card is totally up your alley. The “smooshing” technique makes such a fun effect and the Stampin' Up! Aqua Painter lets you easily color in the mermaid. Not familiar with the Aqua Painter coloring tool?

https://stampmaven.com/sunday-crafting-august-paper-pumpkin/

This nifty tool looks like a paint brush, but the handle holds water.  When you squeeze the handle, water runs into the brush tip. You simply unscrew the brush, add water into the handle, replace the brush and start coloring! Easy Peasy!

Instructions, including supplies and measurements, follow. You can order the stamp set or any other supplies you might need to make your own Magical Mermaid Stampin' Up! Style card  24/7 at my online store. While you're shopping,  be sure to add adhesive or envelopes if you're running low. Those are things I always forget!

Supplies:

  • Stamp SetsMagical Mermaid (144017; Timeless Textures (140517)
  • Card Stock – Whisper White (100730); Basic Black (121045); Watercolor Paper (122959)
  • Stamp Pads – Lemon Lime Twist (144086); Berry Burst (144083); Powder Pink (144084); Bermuda Bay (131171); Elegant Eggplant (126969); Crumb Cake (126975); Soft Suede (126978); Versamark (102283); Black Archival Stampin’ Ink (140931)
  • Misc. – Window Sheets (142314); Embossing Buddy (103083); White Stampin’ Emboss Powder (109132); Heat Tool (129053); Pretty Label Punch (143715); Aqua Painters (103954); Stampin’ Spritzers (126185); Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430); SNAIL Adhesive (104332); Paper Snips (103579)

Measurements:

  • Whisper White: 4 1/4″ x 11” (scored at 5 1/2″)
  • Basic Black: 4” x 5 1/4”,  2” x 3”
  • Watercolor Paper: 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”, 2” x 4 1/2″

Instructions:

  • Rub the Embossing Buddy over the Watercolor Paper mat. Using Vermark ink stamp the flourish from Timeless Textures in various places on the mat. Cover with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set with the Heat Tool. NOTE: It may be difficult to see where you are stamping so it might be beneficial to stamp a few flourishes, add the Embossing Powder and then do a few more until finished.
  • Use a Stampin’ Spritzer to wet the Watercolor Paper.
  • Take a 2” x 4” piece of Window Sheet and “smoosh” it in one of your ink pads (shown here are Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay and Elegant Eggplant) and then Spritz it with a little water. Take the colored Window Sheet and “smoosh” it onto the Watercolor Paper. Clean the Window Sheet and do the same thing with the other ink colors until you are satisfied with the look of the Watercolor Paper art piece.
  • Rub the Embossing Buddy on the smallest piece of Basic Black and use Vermark ink stamp the sentiment and cover with White Embossing Powder and punch out with the Pretty Label Punch.
  • Use Black Archival ink to stamp the Mermaid, allow to dry, and then color her using an Aqua Painter and ink. You can squeeze the stamp pad to get some ink into the lid and pick up the color from there. Shown here is Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay on the tail, Powder Pink on the body, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede for the hair. Use Paper Snips to cut her out.
  • Use SNAIL to attach the mats onto the card base and then add the sentiment and the Mermaid with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Hope you enjoyed today's Magical Mermaid Stampin' Up! Style. If you missed any of this week's posts, start here to see them all.

Fresh Eyes On Your Crafting Supplies – Ink Pads

Product Information/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques

Fresh Eyes On Your Crafting Supplies – Ink Pads

Hey stampers! I'm back with another tip to help you get the most out of your crafting supplies. Today I'll be sharing a couple of ideas for your ink pads.

Fresh Eyes On Your Crafting Supplies - Ink Pads Fresh Eyes On Your Crafting Supplies - Ink Pads Fresh Eyes On Your Crafting Supplies - Ink Pads

You might be someone who buys every color of ink pad ever made by Stampin' Up! That would be me, which is why I became a demonstrator That's another conversation we can have if you have any interest. Give me a shout and we'll chat.

Back to ink pads. Notice in the photos above there are 2 shades of ink in each sample.  In each example only one color of ink is used.  Rose Red in the first, Early Espresso in the second and Pear Pizzazz in the third. Each Stampin' Up! Ink Pad can actually give you three different shades of ink, dark, medium, and light. The name for this is repetition stamping.

In repetition stamping, the image is stamped repeatedly without re-inking your stamp.  The first stamp will be the darkest, then a little lighter and the third repetition will be the lightest. Repetition stamping allows you to create some really cool effects, using one color alone. I always keep a piece of grid paper on my stamping table so that I can “stamp off” onto that paper when I need just the lightest shade on my card. Of course, you can always use two or three different colors of inks to create shading effects if you prefer.

The second tip I have for you involves re-inking your pads. When you purchase an ink pad do you get the re-inker at the same time? No? Well, you are not alone, ha! I have so many customers who just buy the ink pad to save money. I totally get that; however, more times than not you will end up with a dry ink pad down the road. If you had the re-inker you could freshen it and get back to stamping. If you don't have one, you will either have to purchase a new inkpad OR purchase a re-inker which might be from a different dye lot and you'll end up with a different color. So my advice is to save  yourself time and money, buy the re-inker! 🙂 Click here to go to my online store.

I hope you've found today's topic, Fresh Eyes On Your Crafting Supplies – Ink Pads, helpful. I'm here to help if you need anything!

    2. Using Cherry Cobbler ink, stamp “Deck the Halls” on Very Vanilla piece and layer onto Tranquil Tide mat piece.
    3. Using Cherry Cobbler ink, stamp small flower and small dots on each side of sentiment. Using Tranquil Tide ink, stamp 2 sets of leaves around flower on each side of sentiment.
    4. Using SNAIL, adhere the foil acetate to card base. Be sure to run your SNAIL in the middle of the piece so once you put the next layer on top the SNAIL will not show through.
    5. Using SNAIL, attach ribbon to the long Tranquil Tide piece and attach to card base, on top of foil acetate.
    6. Attach stamped sentiment unit to card base.

Don't forget about a service I offer every year for the holidays. I will help you design your holiday cards and we'll start with a complimentary one hour design session (in person if you live near me, or on the phone or via skype if you live away) to help you figure out exactly what type of card you would like. Sometimes it just takes verbalizing your thoughts and ideas with someone else to put it all into perspective. I'd love to help you achieve the perfect card so please do email me and let's get the ball rolling!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you've enjoyed my Carols of Christmas Sneak Peek Inspiration Sheets!

THIS Little Piggy is a Happy Piggy

Paper crafting/ Product Information

THIS Little Piggy is a Happy Piggy ; she is dancing on air, don't you think? It's almost like she is the leader of a piggy parade!

This stamp set just captivates me. I am naturally drawn to cute little critters when I stamp but something about the images in this set just brings an extra big smile to my face every time I use it! The sentiment images in the set work perfectly with all the piggy images, too. I think whomever receives this card will certainly feel loved, don't you?

Here are the instructions for today's project. If my posts this week have motivated you to move This Little Piggy stamp set from your “wish list” onto your stamp shelf, just click on a picture below to order it or any of the other card supplies.. 🙂

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set – This Little Piggy (143922)
  • Card Stock – Pool Party (122924); Calypso Coral (122925); Shimmery White (101910)
  • Stamp Pads – Basic Black (140931); Calypso Coral (126983)
  • Misc. – Petal Garden DSP Stack (144168); Gold Metallic Thread (138401); Sponge Daubers (133773); Stitched Shapes Dies (145372); Watercolor Pencils (141709); Blender Pen (102845); Paper Snips (103579); Liquid Glue (110755); Snail Adhesive (104332); Dimensionals (104430)

Measurements:

  • Pool Party Card Stock: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, folded in half at 4 ¼”
  • Calypso Coral Card Stock: 5 ¼” x 4”
  • Petal Garden DSP Stack: Background layer- 5” x 3 ¾”; Flower pig is holding 2” x 1 ¼”
  • Shimmer Paper: approx. 4” x 4”

Instructions:

  1. Attach Calypso Coral card stock layer to card front with snail adhesive.
  2. Cut Petal Garden DSP to 5” x 3 ¾” and attach to card front on top of Calypso layer.
  3. Stamp the cute pig in Archival Basic Black ink on Shimmery White Paper. Color pig with Calypso Coral watercolor pencil and blend with a blender pen. Hand cut your pig with paper snips, cutting off the flower he is holding.
  4. Using liquid glue attach pig to card front as pictured.
  5. Hand cut, or fussy cut, a flower from the Petal Garden DSP Stack. Then glue, using liquid glue again, so that it looks like the pig is holding the flower.
  6. Next, you are going to make sure your pig stamp is clean. Then you are going to use a sponge dauber to ink up just the sentiment using Calypso Coral ink. Be very careful. You can use a baby wipe or tissue to wipe around the sentiment before your stamp to make sure you didn’t go over. When you are ready to stamp huff on it one time to make it moist. Stamp sentiment on the same shimmery white paper you stamped the pig on, there should be enough space.
  7. Die cut the sentiment using the smallest circle in the Stitched Shapes Framelits.
  8. Wrap a few inches of Gold Metallic Thread around four fingers and attach on the back of the sentiment using snail adhesive. Then add a dimensional and pop it onto the card

Next week I'll be back with samples and more from another popular new bundle, Coffee Café. I would love for you to set aside a little time to come and visit again!

ps: if you enjoyed my “THIS Little Piggy is a Happy Piggy” post today, check out  my Monday and Wednesday posts, too.

Daisy Punch Back in Stock!

Announcements/ Big Shot/ Product Information/ Stamping/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques

Daisy Punch Back in Stock! Oh happy day! 🙂

Stampin' Up! totally missed the boat on how popular this would be with the 50,000 global demonstrators during our new catalog preorder period! It went on backorder soon after our 2017-2018 Annual catalog debuted. 🙁

BUT 🙁 faces can now be 🙂 once again! The shelves are stacked with a new supply of the stamp sets and punches in this bundle (products can be purchased separately but you score a 10% discount if you purchase the bundle):

Look at some of the fun ideas using these products:

One way to make your daisies “pop” is to use a bone folder to curl the ends of your punched daisies. This really gives a life-like quality to your paper flowers!

Today I'm sharing the instructions for the second card pictured above. I love using fun folds like this one in my cards; what fold is your favorite? Leave a comment and maybe even a photo to share with my followers.

  4. Cut up 1 5/8” from the center of the Whisper White layer (2 11/16”). Score and fold from the top of the cut to the bottom corners of the card. Fold these up and attach with  dimensionals. Use snail to attach this layer to the card base.

  6. Punch 2 daisies from Whisper White cardstock. Use snail adhesive to attach the 2 daisies. Attach Daffodil Delight circle to center of daisy.
  7. Layer Calypso Coral circle onto gold foil scallop. Use dimensionals to attach to center of card. Add Daisy with a dimensional. Add a Faceted gem to center of daisy.

If the daisy punch is on your wish list, I would purchase it today. The punch is so popular it could become unavailable again soon and Stampin' Up! won't receive another shipment until late July.
