Do You Need an Easy Gift Idea?

Classes / Events/ Facebook LIVE/ Paper crafting/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques

Happy Friday Stampers! Those of you moms, students, and just busy peeps,  I have an easy gift idea to share with you today! This card folder which holds six cards with envelopes,  can be made with minimal supplies. To save time since you would have all your supplies out, you could even make several at one time to have on hand. I can't think of anyone who wouldn't need a set of cards organized in a cute folder! Heck, why not make a couple for yourself and put birthday cards in one, sympathy in another, Thinking of You, and so on!

I purposely designed this to be a simple project. Now, if you are the Glitter Queen or lover of any embellishment, you can certainly “glam” it up!

Do You Need an Easy Gift Idea?

For my supplies I used:

1 sheet of Designer Series Paper (I used our new Garden Lane DSP coming June 4 in our Annual Catalog)
6 sheets of neutral CS, I prefer using Whisper White or Very Vanilla THICK CS – depending upon which is in your DSP
3-4 sheets of coordinating, colored CS, depending upon how many layers you want (for my project I used Mint Macaron, Garden Green, and Mossy Meadow)

I did this class in a Facebook Live video and you can watch it below. In addition to showing you how to make the folder and cards, I also share a few extra tips that I think will help you in your papercrafting:

easily cut your layers AND mount to your card base straight every time
save time mounting your cling stamp sets
stamp your sentiments perfectly straight every time.

Big Shot/ Die Cut/ Stamping

Do you sometimes want “simplicity” rather than “complexity” in your handmade cards?

DA card

My talented team of demos and I had our first ever shoebox swap for customers this past Saturday. We all created a card, then assembled all the supplies into a baggie for each attendee, put into a shoebox or other container and then we spend the morning making each other's cards. We even had one of our newest team members fly all the way from Maryland to Texas to participate with us! We had never met her face to face so we had a blast spending time with her! If you might be looking for some “kindred crafters”…check out my team page!

The card above was made by DeeAnn. What I love about this card is, even though it was very simple to make, all the little details combine to make it a “wow” card in my book!

The five strips making the “birthday present”in the middle were cut from Designer Series Paper scraps; any pattern would do. The card base is Daffodil Delight and there is also an embossed layer of Daffodil Delight, using the Decorative Dots Textured Embossing Folder, on top of that.

DeeAnn finished her card by creating a banner for her sentiment; you could easily substitute a different greeting, depending upon the occasion. A small rhinestone jewel above the “i”, part of a lace doily and a piece of white Baker's Twine for a bow on top of the present, finish this card.

Spring Has Sprung…..For REAL this time???

Sale-A-Bration/ Stamping

Hello stampers…our weather here in the Dallas area has gone from snow to sunshine to hail to sunshine…MAYBE Spring is here to stay????  Let's hope for the best!!

This card uses one of my favorite colors, Calypso Coral.  The second flower is “shadow stamped” (the technique of re-stamping an image before re-inking it) to make it lighter.  This is a great way to get a lighter and darker shade of the exact same color by just using one color of ink pad!

The Flower Medallion Punch from Stampin' Up!'s Occasions Catalog coordinates beautifully with the image; I just LOVE it when I can use coordinating punches or Framelits.  This punch not only coordinates with this stamp set “Crazy About You”, but it also coordinates with another stamp set in the Occasions Catalog called “Petal Potpourri”.

Stamp Sets: Crazy About You &  Simply Wonderful (from Sale-A-Bration)**

Cardstock:  Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride, Whisper WhiteDesigner Series Paper:  Best Day Ever (SAB)**

Ink Pads: Calypso Coral, Wild Wasabi

Accessories:  Petite Petals Punch, Flower Medallion Punch, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Basic Pearls, Best Day Ever (SAB)** ribbon, Scalloped Edge Border Punch

**if you did not happen to get these items during Sale-A-Bration…no worries!! Select another coordinating Designer Series Paper and ribbon…there are many from which to choose!! 🙂

Hope you like this card; to purchase any of these supplies, please visit my online store.

Ink Refills are NOT Just for Bringing Dry Ink Pads to Life!

Tips, Tricks, & Techniques/ Tuesday Tips/ Videos

Did you know that you can do more with your Stampin' Up! Ink Refills than just re-inking on your ink pads? It's true…ink refills, sometimes referred to as “re-inkers” are NOT just for bringing those dry ink pads to life!

I always recommend to my customers that whenever they are purchasing a new ink pad to get the ink refill at the same time. Why do I do this? 2 reasons:

1. SU ink pads to last a long time without re-inking…BUT, when they need a little shot to get them stamping like new, you don't want to have to wait, especially if you are in the midst of stamping your daughter's Sweet 16 birthday party invitations!

2. There are fun techniques that you can only do if you have an ink refill. Here is one of those; I call it “floating colors”:

floating reinker

Stamp an image (Blended Bloom – 135906 or one of the images from Bloom With Hope – wood (133949), clear (133952) work well) onto Shimmery White Cardstock using Versamark Ink; emboss this image with white embossing powder. Let this image cool and then spray a few squirts of water using a spray bottle onto the image. Place a few drops from your re-inker into a small lid or container. Use an Aqua Painter  (be sure you've squeezed some water onto the tip) to pick up some of the ink and lightly touch the tip onto a spot on your stamped, embossed image.

The ink will spread  like magic! Add more ink where you would like darker petals. Let image dry completely and then cut it out, use Stampin' Dimensionals to “pop up” on your card, and finish as desired.

Need to learn some other techniques? Subscribe to my YouTube site and watch my technique tutorials.

MOJO Monday Sketch and Challenge

Mojo Monday/ Stamping

Today's MOJO Monday Sketch and Challenge is meant to be easy!! I don't want you to “overthink” it, so my sample is very simple.

MJM2-16-15SketchI changed the orientation to be vertical instead of horizontal and made my focal point a tad larger, but the basic layout is the same as the sketch.

Sometimes we spend so much time on Pinterest and looking at blogs, we get on overload and try to fashion our cards as if they were taking a walk down the “crafting runway” so to speak; today let's just KISS that idea good-bye and share an easy card that someone else could CASE!

Please do post your comments and samples for others to enjoy…you can also send to me via email and I'll share here on my blog.

PS – did you notice the “.” after each word on my “BEST DAY EVER” stamped image? I took a few rhinestone jewels, colored them black and then put them over the “.” after the word EVER. Then, continuing my thought on the inside of the card:

…the day I met you!

Thanks for popping by today and I can't wait to see your “challenge” results!

Valentine Treats “Make and Take” from Stampin’ Bingo

Holidays / Special Days/ Paper Pumpkin/ Videos

Wanted to share my Valentine Treats  “make and Take” from Stampin' Bingo this past weekend. The one on the left is a sour cream container made with the Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack in the Occasions Mini. If you have never made a sour cream container and filled with treats or if it's been awhile, these little gems are so, so easy to create! Take a 4-1/4″ x  5-1/2″ sheet of paper and run some Sticky Strip along the edges (don't use a tape runner like SNAIL; you need a stronger hold) as shown below. Remove the Sticky Strip backing from the side and bottom,  roll into a tube shape and pinch together the bottom. Fill with candy, diamonds for yourself,  or…whatever! Remove the backing on the top piece of Sticky Strip and pinch together. Decorate as desired.

This is a quick, easy project that would make rockin' class valentines for your child's classmates.

The project on the right came in the January Paper Pumpkin Kit. There were enough supplies to make 24 of these adorable little treats; everything was included except the candy. Look closely to see the cute little gold clips and pink twine.

If you haven't heard about Paper Pumpkin, let me tell you about it! This creative escape comes once a month right to your door in an orange box, filled with a different project every month. It might be cards, a home decor item, treat holders, pinwheels…something new every month.

Watch this short video and see how easy these little treats came together!

Right now you can “test drive” for three months, save $5, AND get a free Sale-A-Bration item. Check out the three month pre-paid option. Other options include a one month, 6 month, or twelve month prepaid subscription, or a month-to-month subscription. I'm sure you'll find one that best works for you!

These also make a great gift for a crafting friend' especially someone who doesn't have a lot of room to store crafting supplies!
