Tuesday Tip – Faux Tearing

Today's tip is actually a technique….tip, technique…going with the "t" theme anyway!

Many of you are busily creating your Christmas Cards and I wanted to share a timely tip. Tree-themed stamp sets seem to be a popular choice for card creation this year. Many of my customers have asked how they can create an easy "hill effect" so that their trees are not "hanging" in mid-air. The faux tearing technique fits the bill. It is quite easy, yet with a little practice, can create great hills or ground contrast. Here are the steps:

1) Tear a piece of scrap paper and lay it on your project.

2) Apply ink to the uncovered portion of your project using a sponge or brayer. Make sure to overlap the ink onto the scrap paper.

3) Add stamped images as desired.

4) Lift the scrap paper to reveal your faux torn edge.

Have fun and be sure to send me a picture of your completed project!

As always, please email with any questions.  If you like the tip, feel free to leave a comment.
