Twisted Techniques

I'm always trying to put a new twist on techniques to change things up a bit for my customers. You've probably tried stamping using Painter's Tape…you drag the tape over an ink pad and then press down for a background on your card.

While watching the Rangers game the other night, I had a “light bulb” moment and…shazam…my new technique was born!

Instead of an ink pad, I used a Stampin' Write Marker to color on the tape, placed it onto my card and gently pushed down where I wanted the ink to be. Gives a different look….love it!

My color scheme here is Strawberry Slush, Sahara Sand, and Rich Razzleberry. Sahara Sand has become one of my “go to” colors; it takes on a different appearance depending upon the other colors with which it is paired. Nice to have another “neutral” in my every day palette.

The flower embellishment is made using a small piece of Strawberry Slush 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim Ribbon. This ribbon comes in all our 2013-2015 In Colors and you will love that it stretches! My club girls on Monday night were just giddy playing with it.

I started with a 4″ piece, took one end and started just twisting it in a circular motion, adding glue dots to keep it together. Once I had it all together, I pushed it down to create a flatter, circular shape. Topped it off with a small Pearl Basic Jewel.
