Online Stamp Club/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques/ Videos

I just love to emboss! It always adds such a beautiful dimension to my handmade cards. Did you know there are tons of different ways to emboss? Watch this short video below that shows Brandi, from the Stampin' Up! Home Office, demonstrating a faux metal embossing technique.

Doesn't that look like fun? Ready to see another embossing technique?

Here's a video of me demonstrating another embossing technique, embossed foil. This was a card I did with my stamp clubs and it was a big hit.

If you're ready to give embossing a try but need a little more instruction or tips, please reach out!

Memories Then and Now; In the Blink of an Eye!

Classes / Events/ Facebook LIVE/ Online Classes/ Videos

Memories Then and Now; In the Blink of an Eye!  This is going to be a bit of a nostalgic week for me! Our oldest grandcherub graduates from high school this Saturday! Where has the time gone?  Anyone else taking trips down memory lane with graduates?

Memories Then and Now; In the Blink of an Eye!Memories Then and Now; In the Blink of an Eye!

This kid and I used to put on our yellow raincoats to go outside and splash in puddles. Now he'll be putting on a cap and gown to march across the stage to collect his diploma! His “Poppa” and I are proud of the young man he has become and are looking forward to the path God has for him.

Of course I had to make his graduation card! I made a few extra, too since I have a lot of friends whose kiddos are also making the “graduation march”!

Memories Then and Now; In the Blink of an Eye!

The backgrounds for all these cards were done with Brusho Color Crystals. This is such a fun and easy product to use. I taught an online class in which I stepped through several projects and gave lots of tips and techniques. If you missed the live class,  you can still purchase the recording.

My next online class, coming up on June 20th, will feature 2 “fancy fold” cards; you'll also learn to make gift bags that require no measuring or cutting!

Learn to “Brusho” Like a Pro!

Classes / Events/ Facebook LIVE/ Online Classes/ Videos

Hey Stampers! Let's face it; learning a new skill can be intimidating. Remember when you were a kid and were taking your first spin around the block on that shiny new bicycle? C'mon, admit it…you were afraid of falling off. It might hurt! But, I  bet with mom, dad, or older sibling's help you learned how to ride like a pro, despite a few tumbles! We're past the cycling days (well, at least on our pink Schwinns of old) but we still can  get intimidated learning a new technique or mastering a new product. Take Brusho Color Crystals for instance. Have you  seen this product in the  Stampin' Up Occasions Catalog and flip right on by? In my latest class, Brusho Artistry, you'll Learn to “Brusho” Like a Pro!

I find many of my customers get unnerved when they begin to watercolor. Getting “messy” and using a technique which often turns out differently each time presents a challenge for them. if you find yourself in this boat from time to time, it doesn't have to be that way. I can help you become the “watercolor artist” of your dreams! 🙂

Here are snippets of some of the projects I'll be teaching.

Learn to "Brusho" Like a Pro!

I know you will come away from class loving the Brusho Color Crystals as much as  I do!

Click here to see a short video and get  all the registration info! See you in class!

My Wood Blocks Don’t Fit Back Into the Case – HELP!

Customer Q & A/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques/ Videos

Hey stampers. Today I want to share a problem that many stampers have AND I'm going to give you solutions. If I've heard this once, I've heard it 50 times from my customers: My Wood Blocks Don't Fit Back Into the Case – HELP! I personally purchase photopolymer stamp sets whenever available but I have many customers who prefer our red rubber, wood mount sets.

The sets that have lots of pieces, like Work of Art, can often present a challenge after using them; how DO I get all the pieces back into the case? Believe it or not, many of these wood mount stamp sets only go back in one way. I actually have heard of customers who purchased this set, couldn't get the pieces back in so they just put all the stamps in a baggie on the shelf!

My Wood Blocks Don't Fit Back Into the Case - HELP!

You can create such a variety of  projects, no matter the occasion.

My sweet husband, Dave (AKA The Stamp Slave) recorded a You Tube video on my channel that gives you several solutions to help you if you experience this.  Hope it helps you!

I'm very fortunate to have a husband who helps me in my stamping business. He helps me prepare for classes, bakes food for events and even records tool videos!

Dave will take you step by step and, chances are, after following along with the video, you'll be able to fix your punch!

AND, instead of spending money on a new punch, you'll be able to buy a new stamp set, perhaps a new color of ink, or maybe some fun embellishments!

If you have time, why not watch the video now. If you're in a hurry, bookmark the page and watch at your leisure!

Announcements/ Big Shot/ Join My Team/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques/ Videos

Hey stampers! We are making changes to the blog and have run into a couple of snags. Didn't get to post yesterday but enjoy today's Coffee Café Bundle ala Pool Party sample! One of my favorite color combos is brown and blue. Stampin' Up! has several of these tones from which to choose, but Pool Party and Early Espresso are still two of my favorites!

This is a simple card, but the coordinating Designer Series Paper and Ribbon certainly add the “pretty” factor!

Watch short video that shows you some fun tips and tricks for using this bundle!

Below I've included instructions, including cutting dimensions, for today's project. You can order any of the products used for this project by clicking a picture below.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Sets: Coffee Cafe (143677)
  • Inks: Early Espresso (126974), Crumb Cake (126975) & Pool, Party (126982) Classic Stampin’ Pads
  • Paper: Crumb Cake (120953), Early Espresso (119686) & Whisper White (100730) Card stock; Coffee Break Designer Series Paper (144155)
  • Accessories: 5/8” Burlap Ribbon (141487), Soft Sky 3/8” Classic Weave Ribbon (144160)
  • Other: SNAIL Adhesive (104332) OR Fast Fuse Adhesive (129026), Big Shot (143263), Coffee Cups Framelits (143745), Stitched Shapes Framelits (145372), Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122234), Stampin’ Trimmer (126889), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430)

Measurements:

  • Crumb Cake: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored and folded at 4-1/4”
  • Coffee Break DSP: 5-1/4” x 4” (make sure that you cut it so that the chevron pattern runs down the front of the card)
  • Early Espresso: 3-1/2” x 3-1/2”
  • Whisper White: 2 x 5-1/4” x 4” (one for the inside of the card, and the second for stamping/die cutting)
  • Burlap and Soft Sky Ribbons: 5” for each piece

Instructions:

    1. Using the Pool Party ink, stamp the wood grain cup image on Whisper White cardstock. Leaving space between the images, stamp the cup lid on the same piece of cardstock, using Crumb Cake ink. Stamp the frame image using Crumb Cake ink, and the sentiment inside of the stamped frame using Early Espresso ink.
    2. Using your Big Shot and the Coffee Cups Framelits, die cut the cup, lid and wrapper. Using the largest circle in the Stitched Shapes Framelits, die cut a circle from the Early Espresso card stock.
    3. Glue the wrapper to the cup, and the lid to the cup using SNAIL or Fast Fuse adhesive.
    4. Wrap the Soft Sky ribbon around the Coffee Break DSP, about 1” above the bottom of the paper, and glue on the back. Wrap the Burlap ribbon overtop, leaving about 2/3” of the Soft Sky showing on the bottom, adhering them on the back. *Note* Fast Fuse is a good adhesive for this so that you’re sure that they don’t come off.
    5. Using your Paper Trimmer, cut about 1/2” off of one side of the Early Espresso circle. Adhere the circle to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere the stamped coffee cup to the Early Espresso circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    6. Stamp the coffee bean image 3 times in the bottom right corner of the other piece of Whisper White cardstock. Glue to the inside of the card.

Watercolor Techniques Wednesday

Big Shot/ Stamping/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques/ Videos

Hey stampers! Today is Watercolor Techniques Wednesday here on the blog. There are so many different ways to use plain old water with various Stampin' Up! products to create some fun and unique looks!

My first project uses a new stamp set, Floral Statements. This stamp set is available in both wood and clear mount and gives you so many options for coloring. Today's card uses Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Fresh Fig, one of our new 2017-2019 In Colors. The color combo is something I've never used before. It's fun to try “out of the box” color combinations to create totally new looks to your stamping every once in awhile.

Supplies:

  • Stamp SetsFloral Statements wood #143738, Clear 144701
  • Card Stock – Watercolor Paper 122959; Fresh Fig 144242; Daffodil Delight 119683
  • Stamp Pads – Fresh Fig 144082; Daffodil Delight 131173; Old Olive 126953
  • Misc. –Seasonal Layers Thinlits 143751; Aqua Painter 103954; Snail 104332

Measurements:

  • Daffodil Delight 8½ x 5½
  • Fresh Fig 5 x 3¼; 5½ x 1
  • Watercolor 4¾ x 3

Instructions:

  1. Daffodil Delight score at 5½
  2. Place the scallop edge from Seasonal Layers about ½ at the bottom on the daffodil delight card stock and cut out pass through the big shot. Fold at the score line.
  3. Place the scallop edge from Seasonal Layers about ½ at the edge of the card strip of the Fresh Fig card stock and cut out pass through the big shot.
  4. Place the scallop Fresh Fig at the bottom inside of the Daffodil Delight and ONLY apply snail in the back of the daffodil delight scallop and close to adhere to the fresh fig.
  5. Stamp the Hello using Fresh Fig onto the watercolor paper.
  6. Using the aqua painter to color ***very gentle on the water and barely touch the brush into the paper so it will not bleed the color. You will have some bleeding but little if using little water and NOT pressing hard the aqua painter.
  7. Flower color with Daffodil Delight and outline with Crushed Curry, leaves color using Old Olive and Hello Fresh Fig.
  8. Adhere into the Fresh Fig card stock and center of card front.

If you want to try this card for yourself, just click on any picture to order your supplies.

One of the many perks of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is all the support from our Corporate Office. There are so many wonderful trainers who are always sharing their tips and techniques with us, often in videos. I've selected a few short ones for you to watch today…enjoy!

Aren't these techniques cool?  When I first started stamping I shied away from doing anything that involved water. As I practiced  and became more familiar with all the different tools for watercoloring, I started incorporating water into more of my projects. I hope these Watercolor Techniques Wednesday videos will inspire you, too!
