Coffee Café Bundle ala Pool Party

Announcements/ Big Shot/ Join My Team/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques/ Videos

Hey stampers! We are making changes to the blog and have run into a couple of snags. Didn't get to post yesterday but enjoy today's Coffee Café Bundle ala Pool Party sample! One of my favorite color combos is brown and blue. Stampin' Up! has several of these tones from which to choose, but Pool Party and Early Espresso are still two of my favorites!

This is a simple card, but the coordinating Designer Series Paper and Ribbon certainly add the “pretty” factor!

Watch short video that shows you some fun tips and tricks for using this bundle!

Below I've included instructions, including cutting dimensions, for today's project. You can order any of the products used for this project by clicking a picture below.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Sets: Coffee Cafe (143677)
  • Inks: Early Espresso (126974), Crumb Cake (126975) & Pool, Party (126982) Classic Stampin’ Pads
  • Paper: Crumb Cake (120953), Early Espresso (119686) & Whisper White (100730) Card stock; Coffee Break Designer Series Paper (144155)
  • Accessories: 5/8” Burlap Ribbon (141487), Soft Sky 3/8” Classic Weave Ribbon (144160)
  • Other: SNAIL Adhesive (104332) OR Fast Fuse Adhesive (129026), Big Shot (143263), Coffee Cups Framelits (143745), Stitched Shapes Framelits (145372), Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122234), Stampin’ Trimmer (126889), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430)

Measurements:

  • Crumb Cake: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored and folded at 4-1/4”
  • Coffee Break DSP: 5-1/4” x 4” (make sure that you cut it so that the chevron pattern runs down the front of the card)
  • Early Espresso: 3-1/2” x 3-1/2”
  • Whisper White: 2 x 5-1/4” x 4” (one for the inside of the card, and the second for stamping/die cutting)
  • Burlap and Soft Sky Ribbons: 5” for each piece

Instructions:

    1. Using the Pool Party ink, stamp the wood grain cup image on Whisper White cardstock. Leaving space between the images, stamp the cup lid on the same piece of cardstock, using Crumb Cake ink. Stamp the frame image using Crumb Cake ink, and the sentiment inside of the stamped frame using Early Espresso ink.
    2. Using your Big Shot and the Coffee Cups Framelits, die cut the cup, lid and wrapper. Using the largest circle in the Stitched Shapes Framelits, die cut a circle from the Early Espresso card stock.
    3. Glue the wrapper to the cup, and the lid to the cup using SNAIL or Fast Fuse adhesive.
    4. Wrap the Soft Sky ribbon around the Coffee Break DSP, about 1” above the bottom of the paper, and glue on the back. Wrap the Burlap ribbon overtop, leaving about 2/3” of the Soft Sky showing on the bottom, adhering them on the back. *Note* Fast Fuse is a good adhesive for this so that you’re sure that they don’t come off.
    5. Using your Paper Trimmer, cut about 1/2” off of one side of the Early Espresso circle. Adhere the circle to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere the stamped coffee cup to the Early Espresso circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    6. Stamp the coffee bean image 3 times in the bottom right corner of the other piece of Whisper White cardstock. Glue to the inside of the card.

For every $50 you spend July 1-31 (before tax and shipping) you'll get a $5 Bonus Days Coupon that you can use during August! Shop now.

Watercolor Techniques Wednesday

Big Shot/ Stamping/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques/ Videos

Hey stampers! Today is Watercolor Techniques Wednesday here on the blog. There are so many different ways to use plain old water with various Stampin' Up! products to create some fun and unique looks!

My first project uses a new stamp set, Floral Statements. This stamp set is available in both wood and clear mount and gives you so many options for coloring. Today's card uses Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Fresh Fig, one of our new 2017-2019 In Colors. The color combo is something I've never used before. It's fun to try “out of the box” color combinations to create totally new looks to your stamping every once in awhile.

Supplies:

  • Stamp SetsFloral Statements wood #143738, Clear 144701
  • Card Stock – Watercolor Paper 122959; Fresh Fig 144242; Daffodil Delight 119683
  • Stamp Pads – Fresh Fig 144082; Daffodil Delight 131173; Old Olive 126953
  • Misc. –Seasonal Layers Thinlits 143751; Aqua Painter 103954; Snail 104332

Measurements:

  • Daffodil Delight 8½ x 5½
  • Fresh Fig 5 x 3¼; 5½ x 1
  • Watercolor 4¾ x 3

Instructions:

  1. Daffodil Delight score at 5½
  2. Place the scallop edge from Seasonal Layers about ½ at the bottom on the daffodil delight card stock and cut out pass through the big shot. Fold at the score line.
  3. Place the scallop edge from Seasonal Layers about ½ at the edge of the card strip of the Fresh Fig card stock and cut out pass through the big shot.
  4. Place the scallop Fresh Fig at the bottom inside of the Daffodil Delight and ONLY apply snail in the back of the daffodil delight scallop and close to adhere to the fresh fig.
  5. Stamp the Hello using Fresh Fig onto the watercolor paper.
  6. Using the aqua painter to color ***very gentle on the water and barely touch the brush into the paper so it will not bleed the color. You will have some bleeding but little if using little water and NOT pressing hard the aqua painter.
  7. Flower color with Daffodil Delight and outline with Crushed Curry, leaves color using Old Olive and Hello Fresh Fig.
  8. Adhere into the Fresh Fig card stock and center of card front.

If you want to try this card for yourself, just click on any picture to order your supplies.

One of the many perks of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is all the support from our Corporate Office. There are so many wonderful trainers who are always sharing their tips and techniques with us, often in videos. I've selected a few short ones for you to watch today…enjoy!

Aren't these techniques cool?  When I first started stamping I shied away from doing anything that involved water. As I practiced  and became more familiar with all the different tools for watercoloring, I started incorporating water into more of my projects. I hope these Watercolor Techniques Wednesday videos will inspire you, too!

Tarnished Foil Technique – You MUST Try This!

Big Shot/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques/ Tuesday Tips/ Videos

Oh my,  I am in love with the tarnished foil technique. I created this card over the weekend. My local and online July clubs will be making this card for one of our projects.

I didn't make it specifically as a masculine card, but I think it is perfect for any of our guys.

I recorded a video to show you the steps in the tarnished foil technique and also written instructions, supplies and measurements below.

If you need any of the supplies to make this project, just click on any picture below to order.

Supplies:

  • Stamp SetsGreat Big Greetings (143685), Sharing Sweet Thoughts (w-144048, c-144051)
  • Card Stock – Basic Black (121045), Cajun Craze (119684), Very Vanilla (101650)
  • Stamp Pads – Archival Black Ink (140931); Archival Gray Ink (140932), Versamark (102283)
  • Misc. – Layered Leaves Embossing Folder (143704), 1/4” Copper Trim (144179); Silver Metallic Thread (138402); Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430); SNAIL Adhesive (104332), Stampin’ Sponges (141337), Copper Foil Sheets (142020), Copper (141636), Gold (109129), Silver (109131) Embossing Powder, Heat Tool (129053)

Measurements:

  • Cajun Craze:                8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, 4” x 2 ½”, 3” x ¼”
  • Basic Black:                 5 1/4” x 4″
  • Very Vanilla:                 3” x 1 1/4”
  • Copper Foil:                 4” x 2 ¼”

Instructions:

  1. Fold Cajun Craze Cardstock in half to create card base.
  2. Run Basic Black Cardstock through the Big Shot with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder and attach to card base,
  3. Drag black ink across foil paper. Using Versamark, randomly stamp butterflies from Sharing Sweet Thoughts on top, pour Gold Embossing Powder on top and heat with Heat Tool. Stamp a few more butterflies with Versamark and heat using Silver Embossing Powder. Run through Big Shot using Layered Leaves Embossing Folder.
  4. Tap Versamark onto some of the raised leaves, pour copper embossing Powder on top and heat. Repeat using Silver Embossing Powder (tip: if you get too much powder in one area, just lightly brush off using your finger before you heat).
  5. On small Vanilla piece, stamp I Heart You sentiment from Great Big Greetings using Versamark. Pour Copper Embossing Powder on top and heat. Using sponge and black ink, distress vanilla piece and flag the right end.
  6. Attach the small Cajun Craze piece on the bottom of vanilla piece and then run several lines of SNAIL across the back. Using the Silver Metallic Thread and Copper Trim, create loops as desired and attach this piece to card front using Dimensionals.

Leave me a comment once you try this awesome tarnished foil technique! I'd also love to see your project if you'd like to email me a picture.

Monday Morning Muse from the Stamp Maven

Classes / Events/ Stamping/ Videos

It's Monday Morning Muse from the Stamp Maven! I had a fabulous Saturday with stamping friends and I wanted to share it with you guys!

Doesn't this look like a blast? Well let me tell you, it sure was! We stamped six projects (the first picture here was one that I created, in it's “early stage” stamping by one of the Ruth's Chris servers), had a great meal, door prizes, but most of all…FUN! Here is a pdf with the two projects I designed.

June 24 project sheet

I used the new Daisy Delight Bundle from Stampin' Up! and another fun new stamp set, Great Big Greetings.

We design our projects so anyone can be successful, whether you've ever picked up a rubber stamp before or not! Feel free to print these out and give them a try.If you need to order any of the supplies, my online store is just a click away!

To see a short video as our event was starting, visit my Facebook page. I'd love for you to like my page and become a follower. I post different projects and info on all my social media sites and you don't want to miss anything now do you?! 🙂

My Stampin' Up! journey started 15 years ago and all I wanted was to save money on my hobby. Can you relate? Now that I'm down the road a bit, the discount is still nice, but it is the friends and events like the one above that mean the most. I can honestly say that so many of my customers and team members are true friends and when we gather to stamp and create, the magic happens. I almost can't explain it but I am so energized after one of our large events I cannot wait for the next one!

We had quite a few new stampers at this event; one flew in from Hawaii and one drove from Arizona! Many of us were strangers at the start but after a day of laughter and stamping, we are strangers no more!

If you might be at a point where this type of friendships and fun piques your interest, here's a little bit more about my team of Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Girls, INK.

I truly am grateful for all the Stampin' Up! has provided for my family and me. In addition to the friendships, my husband and I have gone on quite a few exciting all expenses paid trips; the next one will be to Alaska in 2018!

We earned this cruise in 2011, too and we can't wait to go back! My dream is to have some of my team with me on one of these trips…maybe it will be you! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my Monday Morning Muse from the Stamp Maven. I've been at work creating some new projects and video tutorials so I'll be sharing those soon!

2 Minute Tool Tip

Announcements/ Tuesday Tips/ Videos

I know you may think I've lost my mind when I share this 2 Minute Tool Tip! It's so simple but something both I and many of my customers overlook from time to time. (and it really might only be a 1 minute tip, depends on how fast a reader you are…ha!)

Have you ever ended up with cardstock that looks like this after you cut it? I sure have…especially Stampin' Up!'s Whisper White.

Instead of changing my blade (so I can squeeze just a few more cuts out of it), I'll cut the cardstock and then use my fingernail to even out the rough edges. I know this sounds so silly, but my customers tell me they do it, too!

So here's the TIP: I'm all about saving money in my papercrafting and whenever I find a way I definitely pass on to my social media followers and local customers; but using your trimmer blades beyond their useful life will end up COSTING you money in ruined paper.

Do yourself a favor and invest in a couple of bags of these cutting blades, so you'll always have a spare when you start noticing the ragged edges on your projects.

The cost is only $6.00 for 2…plus a little for tax and shipping.

And once you have that new blade in your trimmer, here is a fun project for you to make…measurements and instructions at the end of the post.

This project is created with items that are in the upcoming 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.

BUT…you can purchase one of two bundles right now that will give you the supplies AND some free products, but only until May 31.  Just click on either picture below to see what is included in each bundle…including the free products!

Here are the instructions so you'll be all ready to start creating when your bundle arrives!:

Supplies:

  • Stamp Sets – Eastern Beauty (143675)
  • Card Stock – Blushing Bride (101650); Very Vanilla (101650); Fresh Fig (144242)
  • Stamp Pads – Fresh Fig (144082); Lemon Lime Twist (144086)
  • Misc. – Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper (144147); 2017-2019 In Color Stampin’ Write Markers (144033); Very Vanilla Lace Trim (141672)

Measurements:

  • Blushing Bride Card Stock                    8-1/2” x 5-1/2”
  • Fresh Fig Card Stock                           5” x 3-1/2”
  • Very Vanilla Card Stock                      4-3/4” x 3-1/4”
  • Designer Series Paper (lemon lime twist)   3-1/4” x 1”
  • Designer Series Paper (fresh fig)               3-1/4” x 1”
  • Designer Series Paper (gold foil)               4” x 1/2”

Instructions:

  1. Take 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 piece of Blushing Bride card stock, fold in half, and crease with bone folder to form card base.
  2. Take 4-3/4 x 3-1/4 Very Vanilla card stock and adhere DSP strips (3-1/4 x 1 each) to left side. Stamp greeting in Fresh Fig. Stamp circle and little accents in Lemon Lime Twist. Use Fresh Fig marker to place accent dot in center of little diamond shapes.
  3. Adhere to 5 x 3-1/2 Fresh Fig card stock and stick this entire panel to card front. Add specialty DSP (4 x 1/2) piece using Stampin’ Dimensionals on each end. Slip 4” piece of lace trim underneath and tie in knot.

SO Excited About My New, Updated Website!

Announcements/ Videos

Hey stampers! I am so excited about my new website!  We are still working out some of the kinks but will be posting some fun projects and other stuff real soon.

This weekend I'll be at a retreat with some friends who are also customers and team members and I'll be posting some Facebook Live videos so be sure you are following me on Facebook…just click the social media button below to go right to my site and like me!

Ha-speaking of “like me”…I may date myself here but who else remembers when Sally Field won an Academy Award and in her acceptance speech said “And I can't deny right now in this moment that you like me…”

That has stuck with me for years! It's so fun to be able to go back to watch memorable (and maybe some less than memorable) moments on You Tube.

You might enjoy some of my tutorials on You Tube, like this one where my “Stamp Slave Dave” shows you how to fix your punches:

Thanks for popping in today and I hope you are so excited about my new, updated website, too!

Beautiful You

Announcements/ Stamping/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques/ Videos

Hey beautiful…you!! Have you ever seen a stamp set in the catalog, decided it wasn't for you, then see SO many beautiful samples that you HAD to buy it??

Well, that happens to me all of the time and the most recent set was “Beautiful You” in the Occasions Catalog. When I first saw it, I was reminded of Stampin' Up!'s “Seaside Sketches” stamp set from long ago. It was okay, but I didn't LOVE it!

But…then I tried coloring one of the images with the new Watercolor Pencils; I was sold. I DID love it! I spent the entire afternoon creating samples for my stamp club. Here is my favorite:

This card uses my favorite SU color, Bermuda Bay, and I used Shimmery White cardstock. May I say once again….I love this set!!! If you haven't seen it, I have a Facebook Live video where I show you some tips for using the pencils. Watch video

The pencils were on backorder but can be ordered now…until they run out again. These little guys are UBER popular!! Get yours now!

You can also click on a picture below to purchase any of the supplies I used on this card.

What’s a Pumpkin Patch? Or is it Paper Pumpkin?

Paper crafting/ Paper Pumpkin/ Product Information/ Videos

Hey stampers!  I have to share a Paper Pumpkin funny story with you. When you join Stampin' Up! you get a free Paper Pumpkin kit (keep reading if you're not sure what this is!) in your box of goodies. One of my new team members had no idea she was getting this in her starter kit. We work together so she sent me a message and asked me what does she do with her “pumpkin patch”? It took me a minute, but then I started cracking up. I messaged her back and said, you mean Paper Pumpkin, right? She laughed and said yes. I showed her what was inside the box and she and her mom had a great time stamping and assembling everything.

I learned a good lesson from this: I need to do a better job of explaining the kit “extras” to my new team members; the Paper Pumpkin kit makes the value of the starter kit even better!

As I was thinking about my new team member, it occurred to me that Paper Pumpkin would be a great topic for a post this week…and not just because of the free kit when you join Stampin' Up! So here we go.

What IS Paper Pumpkin? It is a fully designed project kit that arrives at your door each month with stamps, ink, and paper—everything cut and ready to go, so you can skip to the fun. You'll get fun projects like cards, gift packaging, home décor, and more for just $19.95 a month (shipping included). The packaging itself is fun, too. Monthly kits arrive in an orange box and sometimes a special box is designed for a particular kit. Each month is a surprise…and who doesn't like surprises! Here's a video of the January project:

Right now, during Sale-A-Bration, you can get a three month prepaid subscription AND a free Sale-A-Bration item…it's a great time to sign up! I have my own Paper Pumpkin subscription and I get just as excited as my customers when that orange box arrives!

I have several customers who sign up for a 12 month prepaid subscription during Sale-A-Bration because they get FOUR free Sale-A-Bration freebies, a discount on the subscription, and they are guaranteed an entire year of Paper Pumpkin fun…with no interruption!

Whether you are new to stamping, or have been crafting for years Paper Pumpkin is sure to please. You can also gift a subscription to the crafters in your life…these make a wonderful birthday gift!

I invite you to check out all the details here, and please do email me if you have any questions at all!

Thinking Ahead to 2017…Ideas for You

Holidays / Special Days/ Paper crafting/ Project Life by Stampin' Up!/ Punch Art/ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques/ Videos

If you're like I am, the holidays sort of “took over” and I need to get back on track! I'm thinking ahead to 2017 and I have a few fun ideas for you that just might spark your crafting creativity!

2017

Do you have photos from a 2016 vacation that are still in a box, on your camera, saved in the cloud, ______ you fill in the blank. Use a road map (or country map if you traveled abroad) as a background for your memory pages. If you are a Project Life gal, this will still work. Use pertinent pieces of the map for matting or making embellishments. You can actually tear the map and then glue on luggage tags, hotel keys and postcards, tickets stubs, etc. to complete your pages. You can even make handstamped cards using this same idea to tell others about your trip and “show off your eclectic style”!

Speaking of maps, here's another fun idea. Have a wedding coming up? Why not get a map of the honeymooners' destination and use it to wrap up their gift? I bet you could even find some little embellishments to finish off the gift perfectly and give it a little extra “punch” and pizzazz!

Punch…that leads me to my last tip. Do you have some dull punches or some that no longer work? Grab a piece of aluminum foil, those dull punches and run the foil through them a few times and they will be sharp again! If your punches need a bit more TLC, watch these two short videos by my Stamp Slave, Dave. He'll show you how to fix them in no time! Subscribe to my channel while you're there so you don't miss any new videos!

Watch repair video-new style punch

Watch repair video-old style (whale tail) punch

Oh, before I forget, the last day to shop from the retiring Holiday Catalog and Year-end Closeout Deals is January 3, 2017. If you still have a few things on your list, you can shop right now at my online store before you forget!

Thanks for popping in today and let me know if we can help you in any way…together we'll make 2017 FANTABULOUS!!!!:-)

Halloween Tri-Fold Shutter Card – ala Rebecca

Holidays / Special Days/ Paper crafting/ Stamping/ Tuesday Tips/ Videos

Hey stampers, so glad you popped in today! Today's project is a Halloween tri-fold shutter card made by one of my friends and customer, Rebecca. Actually, she made several so I asked her if I could show you pictures and she graciously said yes:

If you've never made one of these cards, they are easier than they look! Watch this short video I did a few years ago that will show you how in easy to follow, step by step instructions!

If you haven't yet subscribed to my You Tube Channel, please do! I have lots of great tutorials and other info: subscribe now

I'd love to see your tri-fold shutter cards! Email pics to me and yours might end up here, too (with your permission, of course)!
