What Are Slimline Cards and How to Cut them

Slimline cardmaking is all the rage right now. Have you jumped on the trend yet? You might be asking what are slimline cards and how to cut them. Let me explain.

Basically, a slimline card with a vertical orientation is a tall card that fits into a business size envelope. Stampin' Up!® also sells a package of Slimline card envelopes now in the January – June 2022 Mini Catalog. Found on page 53, you'll find white, Soft Succulent, and Smoky Slate.

My project today has a horizontal orientation, but still fits into either a business or slimline envelope.

To create a slimline card, cut your 8 1/2″ x 11″ cardstock to 7″ x 8 1/2″, score at 3 1/2″ on the short side, then fold in half. The finished card size is 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. When you cut your cardstock to 7″ x 8 1/2″ you'll have a 4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock left over. Cut this down to 3 1/4″ x 8 1/4″ and you'll have a perfect layer for your slimline card.

Now that you've gotten the answer to what are slimline cards and how to cut them, what color of cardstock will you use to create yours?
