I love to use a red and black combo for a special Valentine handmade card. I had some leftover paper from Twitterpated Designer Series Paper and that became my inspiration.
I cut a 5 "x 1 3/4" piece of the pinkish fan paper and layered this onto a 5 1/4" x 2" strip of Real Red card stock. I ran my Whisper White card base through the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I wanted to use the heart image from our Happy You Hostess Set but did not want the "forever" sentiment to show. The work-around was to take a piece of tape, cover the word, ink up the image, remove the tape and stamp onto the card stock. I needed two hearts so I cleaned the stamp and repeated the process. The "xoxo" is from My Little Valentine, which many of you got in our recent promotion. If you don't have this, just substittue another sentiment.
Punch out each image using the Curly Label Punch and attach to pink/red layer using 2 Stampin' Dimensionals on each punched piece. I wanted my "Happy Valentine's Day" sentiment (from Wacky Wishes) on the inside, peeking through a window punched with the Decorative Label Punch. I wanted the image to be perfectly centered, which can be a challenge. BUT, of course I have a solution!
Stamp the sentiment on the inside using Basic Black Ink. Then, fold down the card and press. Some of the black ink will transfer onto the back of the front of the card; use this as a guide for punch placement. This will work with any ink or punch. Just make sure you start with a well inked pad.
