Hey stampers! I'm hearing lots of my customers are loving this weekly post about maximizing supplies and new tips. Today's topic is Fresh Eyes On Your Crafting Supplies – Clear Stamps Fall Off? I think I'm safe in suggesting that everyone has this problem from time to time. Our clear-mount stamps are designed to cling to our clear blocks but not so firmly that it would be difficult to remove them from the clear blocks. These stamps are repositionable, so they need to be able to be removed easily. However, your stamp should cling strongly enough to the acrylic block to allow you to stamp properly, getting a nice, crisp image.
I've tried all sorts of remedies and I have my top three to share with you today.
First, I bet you just might have one of these hanging around your office or workspace.
I have one in my car, in my craft room, in my office at work, and even in my eyeglass case! I wear contact lenses but the first thing I do when I get home from work is to nix the contacts and put on my glasses. Boy I sure hate peering out through smudged lenses and a microfiber cloth like this one does the trick! In my car it takes fingerprints off of my display panels. When my computer screen has too many fingerprints on it, a quick swipe of the cloth and they are gone.
In my craft room I use it to wipe off my clear blocks and also the label adhered to the stamp foam.
Second tip for pesky stamps not sticking is to take a small alcohol swab and run it over both the block and the label. This will remove hand lotion and any other oils that might have built up on the surfaces.
Finally, and I use this tip for my most frequently used stamps. I do it once, and I'm good to go from then on! I bet most of you have some Tombow Multipurpose Glue. If you don't, it seriously is my “go to” dream glue! It is inexpensive and dries CLEAR!
So how do I use it to make my clear mount stamps “cling” all the time? Use the fine tip end and put a THIN layer on top of the label on your stamp. (pic 1). Let it dry completely (pic 2). It's a bit hard to see here (multitasking and doing this post on my lunch hour), but the glue dries clear. It will feel a little tacky to the touch, but it will stick to the block every time.
Oh, one more idea for you; this one costs a bit more but also works very well.
This product is sold on Amazon (it comes from the UK I believe). Just cut pieces to fit onto your blocks and that also solves the problem!
