Now, I am not really calling anyone a dummy; but, I'm sure you've seen all those __________________For Dummies books at the bookstore. Sometimes I really do think we need a book like that for scrapbooking! A couple of weeks ago, I was teaching a class to some high school seniors and I had been asked to create some pages they could easily duplicate. I'm going to be sharing these pages over the next few days.
I wanted the first page to be one that anyone could do, even if they were brand new to the crafting world; hence, my post title! I did have a couple of newbies, so I'm glad I had something that would make them feel successful right off the bat.
I used colors from the Brights Collection and pre-cut the large squares. All they had to do for the background was to pick the four colors that most appealed to them. Next, they chose coordinating solid colors to run through the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine to create their photo “mats”. The librarian hosting the class wanted bright, springlike pages. Using the Floral Framelits made it so easy and the girls loved it!
Lastly, they needed a place for journaling. I had some cards left over from some other projects so I spread them all out and let the girls choose. Everyone got the little word bubble clip, so they didn't even need adhesive for this part.
My favorite thing about getting together with these girls was returning to the basics and remembering back how it was when I first started scrapbooking and didn't have too many products. I still wanted to create fun pages. Of course, as we continue to create our pages, our style changes and that is fabulous, too. A hobby for anyone and everyone!
Tomorrow I'll share the next page…..be sure to come back!
