Hey stampers! Today is Watercolor Techniques Wednesday here on the blog. There are so many different ways to use plain old water with various Stampin' Up! products to create some fun and unique looks!
My first project uses a new stamp set, Floral Statements. This stamp set is available in both wood and clear mount and gives you so many options for coloring. Today's card uses Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Fresh Fig, one of our new 2017-2019 In Colors. The color combo is something I've never used before. It's fun to try “out of the box” color combinations to create totally new looks to your stamping every once in awhile.
Supplies:
- Stamp Sets –Floral Statements wood #143738, Clear 144701
- Card Stock – Watercolor Paper 122959; Fresh Fig 144242; Daffodil Delight 119683
- Stamp Pads – Fresh Fig 144082; Daffodil Delight 131173; Old Olive 126953
- Misc. –Seasonal Layers Thinlits 143751; Aqua Painter 103954; Snail 104332
Measurements:
- Daffodil Delight 8½ x 5½
- Fresh Fig 5 x 3¼; 5½ x 1
- Watercolor 4¾ x 3
Instructions:
- Daffodil Delight score at 5½
- Place the scallop edge from Seasonal Layers about ½ at the bottom on the daffodil delight card stock and cut out pass through the big shot. Fold at the score line.
- Place the scallop edge from Seasonal Layers about ½ at the edge of the card strip of the Fresh Fig card stock and cut out pass through the big shot.
- Place the scallop Fresh Fig at the bottom inside of the Daffodil Delight and ONLY apply snail in the back of the daffodil delight scallop and close to adhere to the fresh fig.
- Stamp the Hello using Fresh Fig onto the watercolor paper.
- Using the aqua painter to color ***very gentle on the water and barely touch the brush into the paper so it will not bleed the color. You will have some bleeding but little if using little water and NOT pressing hard the aqua painter.
- Flower color with Daffodil Delight and outline with Crushed Curry, leaves color using Old Olive and Hello Fresh Fig.
- Adhere into the Fresh Fig card stock and center of card front.

As I practiced and became more familiar with all the different tools for watercoloring, I started incorporating water into more of my projects.
