Faux Wood Grain Technique

So many of my friends, customers, and other demos get stumped when trying to come up with a “manly” card. Today's technique is just perfect for creating handmade cards with a masculine touch.

To create this background I started with a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock. I used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122334) to create lines 1/2″ apart. (Did you know we are introducing a diagonal plate that will go on top of this tool to allow you to make diagonal lines and create your own envelopes–how cool is that??!)

Once you have your socred card stock, take your first color (Sahara Sand in this card) and drag across the card stock in the same direction as the scored lines; don't completely cover the paper with color. Repeat this step with your next two ink colors (More Mustard and Cajun Craze here). Complete your card by stamping a focal image/es using Black Staz On Ink. Embellish your card as desired.

Tomorrow I'll be showing Punch Embossing and if you are a newsletter subscriber, I'll be sharing 2 other techniques with instructions for the entire card project that will arrive this week in your email. (It's not too late to subscribe-just use the box on the left; you'll get some great ideas and other “stuff” each month)!
