At my monthly rubber stamping/scrapbooking techniques class last month, one of my featured techniques used shaving cream and re-inkers. For this technique, you pump shaving cream into a small container, put drops from 2-3 colors of re-inkers into the shaving cream, swirl around, lay glossy card stock on top of the shaving cream and gently press. Once you wipe off your card stock you can stamp on it or use as a fun background on a card. (this is just a brief overview of the technique. If you want to have more one on one instruction and also get to try fun techniques, taking home a sample, check out my next class, which will be offered on Thursday night, February 24.)
Today's technique is called "faux" shaving cream and gives you a similar look without the mess!
Directions:
1) Ink a bold image wheel (rather than a wheel with a line art image).
2) Ink a bold image stamp with a complementary color. Don't worry about making sure that the stamp is evenly covered.
3) Once your stamp is ready to go, kiss it with your wheel by swiping the wheel on the stamp. Twist your wrist as you tap, or use a side-to-side motion if you swipe. The key to creating the marble swirl is in this movement.
4) Breathe onto the inked image to remoisten the ink, then stamp image.
Tip:
You can also achieve a lovely marbled effect with only one color. To do this, simply kiss your stamp with an uninked wheel.
